Fun Fiddle ceilidh band

28th January 2017

The Weekend Project

Announcing the new Fun Fiddle ceilidh band! A large group from the adult 8pm class played for a refugee and asylum seekers social event at St Columba’s Church Hall. This was the Syrian families first taste of a Burns Supper, ceilidh dancing, and Scottish tunes. Everyone had a great time and we got to do some Syrian dances too.

Several of the Fun Fiddle children, together with Gica and Marit, played for the local school ceilidhs from 9am til 3pm. Everyone really enjoyed the day, and after playing this gig for the past 15 or so years, it has become a real institution!

Grade exams

Autumn 2015

Five of our Fun Fiddle kids did their grade one and two in Autumn 2015 and did really well. Established alongside the ABRSM exam system but geared especially around traditional music, it’s a great chance for the kids to get useful feedback from the Scottish Royal Conservatoire, and also a fun trip to Glasgow!

Street band workshops

May 2014 – we ran a weekend of Street Band workshop in in collaboration with Oi Musica which culminated in a giant parade along Portobello Prom with massed fiddles, drums and horns.
